Ke Kai Catamaran · Waikiki Beach
The Ke Kai catamaran launches straight off Waikiki Beach in front of Duke's and sails for an hour along the shore toward Diamond Head, with drinks on board. It's the best view of the crater you can get without climbing it, and an easy afternoon after a morning on the trail.

Ke Kai sails from the sand in front of Duke's, at the Outrigger Waikiki (2335 Kalakaua Ave). You reach the beach through the hotel or a public beach access path and board from the shore. The boat heads out along the south shore with Waikiki's towers behind and Diamond Head ahead; it passes the crater without stopping. Guests say you leave your shoes in a bin before boarding.
Drinks are part of the price: alcoholic drinks and soda. Reviews mention mai tais and a party atmosphere with music, and on a windy day the sails go up and it's a fast, splashy ride. One guest saw a sea turtle. The age bands on the listing put everyone under 21 at the child rate, because of the drinks.
This isn't a Diamond Head ticket and doesn't include the hike. It pairs well with one, though. Climb in the morning with the Go Tours shuttle, or with Kaimana, then look back at the crater from the water in the afternoon. One guest wrote that it's not for small kids, and the listing doesn't recommend it for pregnant travelers or anyone with back problems.

★★★★★Fun experience with great crew. We had high winds and when the sails went up it was a fast ride. Beautiful view of Waikiki and Diamond Head. Crew were safety conscious and helpful. Take off right from the beach in front of Dukes, so easy access to our hotel.
★★★★★We arrived about 20minutes early once everything was cleared and ready they allowed us to get comfortable on the boat. You are required to remove and leave your shoes in a bin as an FYI.
