Fun Group Hawaii · Waikiki

Diamond Head at dawn, then the whole island

Fun Group Hawaii collects you before 6 a.m., you climb Diamond Head with your admission included, and then the van loops the island: Halona Blowhole, Kualoa, the North Shore and Dole Plantation. It's the way to fit the crater and a circle island tour into one day without a rental car.

Diamond Head Hike and Oahu Circle Island Day

About this experience

Pickup is between 5:30 and 5:45 a.m. in Waikiki or Kahala. Diamond Head comes first, so you're on the trail near the 6 a.m. opening, with the admission fee included. From November to March some guests reach the summit in time for sunrise. In the dark, the narrow trail can turn into a slow procession, as one guest put it, so don't expect to race up.

The listing is clear that the driver doesn't hike with you. After the climb the tour turns into a classic circle island day: Halona Blowhole, the Tropical Farms macadamia nut outlet, Kualoa Regional Park, the Kahuku Sugar Mill, Haleiwa Beach Park, the Kuilima Farm Stand, the North Shore and Dole Plantation. Guests talk warmly about the driver-guides (Stephanie, Jonah, Alan and John come up most) and about extra photo stops.

Be honest about the length. Eleven hours is a lot of van time, and several stops are shops: the macadamia outlet, the farm stand and Dole Plantation. Lunch is not included; guests buy it at North Shore food trucks. If you mostly want the hike plus a second trail, the Diamond Head and Makapuu combo is shorter. The listed price was $125, and Viator had it on sale for $112.50 when we checked on 28 October 2026.

  • Diamond Head at the 6 a.m. opening, admission included
  • Nine stops around Oahu in one day
  • Air-conditioned van, 20 guests at most
  • Driver-guides with local stories, often praised by name
  • No rental car or Waikiki parking needed

What guests say

★★★★★

Started our day at 6am with a less than easy hike to the top of Diamond Head. Almost stopped several times but made it to the top just in time for sunrise. Well worth the amazing view. [...] Great way to see the entire island and experience many landmark areas.

We had limited time on Oahu and Diamondhead was on the list of things to do. With reservations being required to hike Diamondhead, this tour checked a big box and gave us a good look at the rest of the island too.

Tips before you book

  • Bring cash or a card for lunch and snacks. Food trucks on the North Shore are the usual stop.
  • Pack a change of shirt. You'll be sweaty after the hike and in the van for hours.
  • Take a headlamp from November to March. The lower trail is dark at 6 a.m.
  • Ask for the stop schedule at pickup so you know how long you have at each place.
  • Motion sickness? Sit near the front and take tablets before the winding east coast road.
